When all seems lost...

Updated: Apr 24

Lately I have been working a few relief shifts at our local emergency vet clinic in Fort Collins, CO, and I find myself hearing from pet parents over and over again, I wish I could have done more for my pet. It is the most heartbreaking thing to hear, because for one, I have been there with my own pets. As some of you know, I recently lost my two kitties within a year of each other to aggressive lymphoma. I found myself wondering over and over again, could I have done more or what if I found this sooner, could I have fixed it?! I was devastated and broken-hearted when they both passed away not long after their diagnoses.

However, this is where holistic medicine can help our pets. Sometimes they take to the treatments given and other times, they refuse, and all we can do is give them love until the end. Conventional medicine can be quite limited in its ability to fix our pets when they are given a cancer diagnosis, and a lot of times pet parents are left to fend for their pets on their own. I become very frustrated when I hear stories of pet parents being told from conventional doctors that there is nothing more you can do and they have never even tried or recommended holistic medicine! NO! THERE IS MORE YOU CAN DO! We may not be able to cure them, but we can at least keep them comfortable, hopefully slow down the cancer or disease process and give you more time with your beloved pet!

This is why I created my own pet business and I do not limit it to just this area. Everyone should have the ability to access natural medicine regardless of their location to help their pets. I want to provide pet parents with hope, because I have seen some truly magical changes where all hope was lost. There is an endless world of natural medicine ranging from acupuncture treatments, homeopathy, essential oils, nutrition, western herbs, Chinese herbs and many other natural treatments! I may not have all the answers, but I have an open mind to the different treatment modalities that we have, and I promise you that if I don’t have all the answers we can try to find someone or something that can help!

So if you are sick and tired of getting ridiculed for believing that natural medicine can help your pet, and you are not receiving the support that you need to help your pet achieve optimal health or sustenance through a disease like cancer or other “unfixable” conditions, find a holistic veterinarian who will work with you. We have so many different resources to utilize and a lot of things can actually be done by you at home in a cost-effective manner! So don’t take no for an answer and continue to be an advocate for your pet.

I’m tired of seeing so many sick and dying pets and it is only getting worse. Let’s provide our pets with the right nutrition and support they need from the start to reduce the likelihood of them becoming sick in the future.
